Well hey there, glad you've found us. I thought I'd answer this today as I get asked this question quite often, so I thought I'd give you an idea what does happen in our women's Krav Maga classes!
Well just like any fitness class we’ll start with a warm up, then once you’re all warmed and stretched we’ll get the blood pumping with some strength building exercises before focusing on the techniques of the day.
Techniques could be anything from verbally de-escalating a situation to disarming and escaping a knife wielding attacker.
Don’t panic though, because Krav Maga is based on natural responses it’s intuitive to learn, and we break each technique down into step by step sequences to keep it simple. You’ll quickly lose that ‘oh shit’ what am I doing here feeling to actually doing the movements fluidly and instinctively. And…. most importantly by the end of class, you’ll feel incredibly empowered to have earned a real life skill that you can take and use straight away in a situation if you really had to.
Of course Krav Maga takes regular practise to build your confidence & become proficient but after a while you’ll feel that if someone does attack you, you’ll stand a very real chance of surviving and let’s be honest that’s why all women should learn some self defence.
We usually finish with a bit of fun and put it all together in a summary drill, designed to simulate a stressful situation so you can test out what you’ve learned and see if you can perform under pressure.
So if you feel like trying something new this spring, by all means come along and give us a go. Just reserve your space online, turn up with an open mind & be prepared to have fun!
Feel fit & stay safe,
Ladies, be honest, have you ever thought about learning some self defence but haven’t quite gotten around to it?
Well what are you waiting for? There are many reasons that women should learn Krav Maga, perhaps you’re going travelling and like the idea of being able to look after yourself. Maybe you think it’s cool and you’d like to feel a little bad ass, or it could be that you want to learn self defence to increase your confidence and peace of mind. Or possibly you’d like to increase your fitness but hate the thought of going to the gym. Whatever your reason you should come and try a Krav Maga Women class, you won’t be disappointed!
If you’re not sure what Krav Maga is all about and you think that punching the air in your regular gym class is enough for self defence, then I hate to be the one to tell you but all you’re really doing is getting good at hitting nothing at all. Believe me, in terms of self defence if you get attacked you’re going to want to know you can defend against more than fresh air, which is where there’s nothing like Krav Maga. No other martial art or fitness class teaches you what to do if someone gets their hands around your neck in a choke, which coincidentally is a popular attack against women.
I passionately believe that every female should learn Krav Maga so that collectively we can begin to change the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women in NZ can expect to experience sexual or physical violence in their lifetime, and whilst I’m not suggesting that women are to blame for this statistic, we sure as hell can become part of the solution.
Whatever the reason you are thinking about learning self defence, don’t put it off any longer. The skills you learn in class are transferrable to many areas of your life and are truly empowering so get in touch to book your free class today.

Those who know me know I love to stay fit and keep moving, and that I get great happiness and the warm fuzzies by empowering women to be strong and feel all round freakin’ awesome through fitness. So how does self defence fit into the picture?
A friend and I decided to try Krav Maga at the end of last year, she’s joining the police and thought it would be a great addition to training and I missed my old Kung Fu club from the UK, so we signed up for a trial and off we went.
After that very first session I was filled with good vibes from the people, fond memories of training with my old club and feeling empowered to kick ass so I was instantly hooked.
Fast forward a few months and a lot of training hours and now I’m able to bring that awesome feeling of empowering kick-ass-ness to the women of Auckland.
Why does this excite me?
Well I believe as women we should feel safe to walk around our city.
I believe we should nourish our bodies so they are strong, not starve ourselves to be skinny.
I believe we should be able to defend ourselves and empower our daughters learn to self defence too.
I believe we should develop the strength and resolve to live in confidence, not fear,
that we should come together as a fabulous female community and inspire each other to be Fearless.
